January's Hodgepodge

Visit Joyce and join the fun!

1. What's something we'd find you doing most afternoons?

Sitting down for a cup of hot tea, taking a little break before starting dinner.

2. Who do you take after? In what way(s)?

My mom in liking things clean and not cluttered.  My Aunt Carol in reaching out and caring for others especially those who are alone.

3. 'After every storm comes a rainbow' or 'the calm before the storm'...which phrase do you relate to more right now? Tell us why?

I can't help but think "the calm before the storm" in relation to the changes in our country.  Many changes have happened already and I fear our freedoms are being taken away right before our eyes.  Censorship is only the beginning.  If we disagree we can do so respectfully without taking away the rights our Founding Fathers made sure we had.

4.What are your plans for the day after tomorrow?

Hopefully get to stroll through a seaside village after an appointment.  That would help me get my 10,000 steps in.  I am working on getting at least 10,000 steps at least five days a week.  I have been using my Gazelle Sprint Master to help.  My Fitbit recognizes it as an elliptical.

5. Complete this sentence-"After all is said and done_God is still on the throne."

6. Insert your own random thought here.

"If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

-Ronald Reagan

Have a great week :)

  1. I love the Reagan quote and yes, God is still on the throne and in control of everything. Loved your answers and I hope you get that seaside village stroll.

  2. Interesting and troubling times we are living in. There are so many things I don't understand but take comfort in knowing God sees and knows all. I hope you get your seaside walk!

  3. Ronald Reagan, what a man! Getting those 10,000 steps in can be a bit hard somedays. I get a lot while I'm on the elliptical but I'm still usually shy of 10,000 every day. Oh, well, I try!

  4. I too have set a goal of 10,000 steps and while unpacking and setting up our house, I often went over without leaving my house. Now that we are going back to the gym, I am having to work to get all the steps in. It is so good to see almost all the Hodgepodgers agreeing that the uncertain and scary future is still in God's control. This doesn't mean we won't have dark days ahead, but we as believers will not be facing them alone.

  6. Theresa,

Many of us feel the way you do about what's happening in our country but I try to stay focus on God's light because darkness is a product of Satan. If I can keep the shadows from stealing my joy through prayers and a positive attitude then that's a win for God and for me! I loved that you used Ronald Reagan's quote! He was a good president.

Thanks for sharing your answers. I hope when you find time, you'll stop by for a visit with me at Curious as a Cathy!

  8. Hi,
Thank you for the comment on the February 3 Hodgepodge. We appreciate the prayers. Sam is at Camp Douglas at this time. He did ask for prayer regarding safety.
Praying for your family and hope you all are well.
