Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... the sun is shining. It is warming up again although the nights have been cool, which I love.

I am thinking... I am so glad we figured out our timeline for Mystery of History. I was using the back of the door but now we transferred everything onto a nice presentation board.

I am thankful for... a wonderful weekend spent with family and friends.

From the learning rooms... Jupiter, The Epic of Gilgamesh, geometry, spelling, reading, phonics, language mechanics, and penmanship.

From the kitchen... I don't know what I will make for dinner. It was a busy weekend and I don't have any meat defrosted. I have some leftover pot roast and chicken- maybe that will work with some sweet potatoes and veggies.

I am wearing... my workout clothes- gray shorts and a pale turquoise t-shirt. Still hoping for that workout ;)

I am going... to enjoy being home this week. I don't have anything planned except for the weekend.

I am reading... the Bible.

I am hearing... the washing machine turning. I am on my fourth load today.

One of my favorite things: my new lipstick from Clinique called "Go Fig". It is supposed to make your teeth look whiter.

Wednesday's Hodgepodge

I am linking up today for Wednesday Hodgepodge hosted by Joyce.

1. Spring is in the air (at least in my neck of the woods) and the birds are singing...what's your favorite bird?

I think BlueJays are beautiful. Every once in a while I spot one in my yard. My neighbor is a big bird feeder. I think she puts out certain food to attract certain birds.

2. Speaking of birds...do you tweet? If so tell us your screen name and we'll come flocking to your Twitter site. Even if you don't let's all pretend here that we do-in 140 characters or less, sum up your week so far.

I don't tweet. My week so far has been busy. I am happy to be back to doing our school with the kids. I don't think I would be good at tweeting ;)

3. Its been reported recently that employers are not only viewing the facebook pages of potential hires but they're also requesting your facebook password to have a look at what you've kept from public view. What say you?

That is none of their business, is what I say!

4. It's April and you know what that means-Major League Baseball is back in action. What's your favorite baseball movie? If that's too hard, what's your favorite sports themed movie?

I will have to say Sandlot. It is about a bunch of kids that play baseball and it is pretty funny.

5. Something else this season brings-asparagus. Yes please or no thanks? If it's yes please what's your favorite way to have it prepared?

Yes, please. I like it steamed with a touch of butter. I usually have it for Easter but not this year. I couldn't find any from the USA so I refused to buy it.

6. What drives you? (Don't you love how I sandwiched that one in between asparagus and jugglers???)

The fact that I have a purpose in life given to me by the God of the Universe.

7. April 18th is International Jugglers Day...can you juggle?

Uh....No! It involves way too much coordination involving the eyes for me.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Is anyone else enjoying half price Easter candy? We bought Peeps, jelly beans and sour bunnies, which taste like Sweet tarts). I couldn't have any chocolate bunnies this year (they contain milk), but I think I made up for it.

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... it is sunny and hot. It is in the 70s and feels like summer to me.

I am thinking... I can't believe how fast this school year is going.

I am thankful for... His mercies which are new every morning.

From the learning rooms... back to hitting the books today. We still need to put together our presentation board to keep our timeline on for history.

From the kitchen... I just started thinking about dinner. I will make a marinara sauce and make some pasta. I have mozzarella but not sure if I want to put the oven on for baked ziti.

I am wearing... black bermuda shorts and a hot pink t-shirt.

I am going... to get some more dental work done this week, book club on Friday, soccer for the kids on Saturday and church on Sunday.

I am reading... the Bible.

I am hearing... the ceiling fan turning around and around.

One of my favorite things: opening all the windows in the house and letting the fresh air in.

Wednesday's Hodgepodge

I am linking up today for Wednesday Hodgepodge hosted by Joyce.

1. Have you ever played golf? Any interest in playing? Do you have a significant other who loves to play? Did you watch The Masters this past weekend?

No, but I have played mini-golf. I do not have any interest in playing. It is expensive and I think I would get bored waiting. My husband used to golf before he met me. I didn't even know the Masters was this weekend but I wouldn't have watched it anyway.

2. Hats are back in fashion this spring...how do you feel about wearing a hat? (fyi-I'm not talking baseball caps) When was the last time you wore one?

I do not like the idea of wearing a hat. Since baseball caps don't count, the only one I can remember wearing is a graduation cap and I have seen photos of me as a little girl wearing an Easter bonnet. I guess I will have to pass on being up on fashion this spring ;)

3. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 meaning proficient and 1 meaning "I'd starve", how adept are you at using chopsticks?

A 2. I can't use them but I think I would find a way if it meant I'd starve.

4. Has technology taken over?

Yes, I think so.

5. In the course of a day how often do you look in a mirror?

Probably at least ten times. I have a mirror in my hallway on the way to the bathroom and my bedroom.

6. Tulip or Daffodil?

Tulip. I love Tulips. It is one of the only things I can draw also. You wouldn't know an adult drew it though but it is pretty good for a kid ;)

7. I am proud of myself for __________________.

Getting back on an exercise routine and following my eating plan which involves no eggs, bananas, or most dairy.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I can't come up with one right now- LoL.

Blogger, Oh Blogger!

I have a new blog design again. That was the only way I could get my sidebar back for some reason. I am not happy with the new blogger! It took me a long time to find the selection to return to the old blogger, but I did. I hope I can keep it for a while ;) Why is it that as soon as you seem to get something down it changes? Or is it just me?

Technical Help Please!

I don't know how, but I managed to lose my blog design. I must have clicked on blogger's new look and what a mess! Is there anyway to get the old blogger back? I can't seem to figure out the new way and hope to be able to get all my sidebar stuff back. ~Theresa

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... it is dark out. Today was sunny and breezy. It was a great day to hang out my tablecloth and quilt.

I am thinking... it has been a long day.

I am thankful for... my father-in-law returning home today after being in the hospital and nursing home for five months.

From the learning rooms... we are on Spring Break!

From the kitchen... spiral ham with pineapple, sweet potatoes, mashed carrots, green beans and pear and blueberry crumb pie. I also made a carrot cake for our Easter dessert. I used Bob's Red Mill Egg Replacer and no one could tell the difference :)

I am wearing... jeans, a dark navy t-shirt.

I am going... to do some more spring cleaning this week. I still have windows to get to.

I am reading... the Bible.

I am hearing... the washing machine. It seems like it has been going all day.

One of my favorite things: hearing my children singing "Up from the grave He arose..." I was cleaning up in the kitchen and they were playing Uno Flash. I heard them singing and turned around to see they had the hymnals out. What joy it brought to my heart!

FOR TODAY
Outside my window... it is getting dark. It was sunny today but not as warm as it looked.

I am thankful for... a risen Savior!

From the learning rooms... line segments, lines, rays, acute, obtuse and right angles, subtraction with regrouping, spelling, reading, etc.

From the kitchen... chicken cooked on the rotisserie on our BBQ, homemade french fries, spinach salad, mixed veggies.

I am wearing... jeans, a yellow v-neck and flip-flops.

I am going... to be hosting Easter dinner.

I am reading... the Bible.

I am hearing... my son playing Star Wars on a TV interactive game.

One of my favorite things: a clean house.
