Wednesday's Wisdom
Last week I joined a Good Morning Girls Group made up of Homeschooling Moms from all over the country. We share each day what we are reading in our Quiet Time. I have been thinking about my Quiet Time and what I can do to improve it. This morning I read in Proverbs and then picked up a bible study I did a few years ago. It is "Powerful Promises For Every Woman" by Elizabeth George. It is based on Psalm 23. This particular chapter is called "God's Promise of Rest".
"He makes me to lie down in green pastures." Psalm 23:2
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29
I would like to share what Mrs. George says on page 51:
"Dear one, as sheep who belong to the Great Shepherd, we, too, can partake of the green pastures. How? By having a "quiet time". We have all the Shepherd and all of His Word available to us...if we will simply lie down in His green pastures and partake! All we need to do is stop everything and enjoy a time of resting and lingering with the Lord as we feed on His Word."
Not sure where to start? Just start. Open God's precious Word and take it in. Surely you will be rested and refreshed. Enjoy the green pastures today!

Thanks for sharing an excellent post, Theresa. I know when I start my day with my Quiet Time, everything and every task is easier to manage. Visiting from iFellowship and glad to be a follower. Happy Wednesday! :o) Larri at Seams Inspired
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Elizabeth makes the point well. We rest with the Lord and feed on His word. Enjoy your day, Theresa. I'm blessed by your presence in our group.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Toni
Beautiful word and post today! Soemtimes I just need to do this - rest in Him. We do, do, do, and fail to take time to rest. Need to be more like Mary at Jesus' feet. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day from your GMG sister!
Sherry
Thank you for sharing your Quiet Time through your blog.
ReplyDeleteYour GMG friend,
Patty
I love this picture. It is restful in & of itself! I love my prayer time. I do mine in the morning before anyone wakes up (or at least I try to - I have early risers in my house!).
ReplyDeleteI love your new background! Too too precious!
I hope you're having a wonderful iFellowship Day!
Thanks for encouraging women everywhere to "just start!" Amen!
Yes and Amen!!! My quiet times have been on my morning walk lately. Either in prayer or listening to sermons on ipod...each morning He has meet me on my walk...sometimes so tenderly I am caught with tears flowing from my eyes...because He has been such a good Shepard. Then I enter the door of my house ready to start school and chase my four year old!
ReplyDeleteBeen praying for you...let me know!
What beautiful words & a wonderful reminder to find rest in God!! I love the encouragement to JUST START!! It doesn't matter how or where (as long as it's from His Word... but often that can be the hardest thing!
ReplyDeleteBlessings dear friend,
Jessica
That's great advice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great reminder! I need to stop what I'm doing more often and just rest in Christ and read His word and learn of His promises more!
