Truth For Thursday

Sow-and-Reap_Sower I am continuing “Truth for Thursday” here at Being Refined As Silver.  We are on the last chapter of “Lies Women Believe”, chapter 11: “The Truth That Sets Us Free”.  It will take several weeks to review this chapter, so I hope you will continue to come back each week.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss encourages her readers to take time to savor these liberating, life-changing truths.  She suggests saying each Truth aloud, again and again until your thinking becomes aligned with God’s way of thinking.

Here is the fourteenth truth:

I will reap whatever I sow.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.  For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:7-8

“The choices we make today will have consequences down the road, not only in our own lives, but in the lives of others for generations to come.  Every selfish, sinful, or indulgent choice I make today is sowing a seed that will reap a multiplied harvest.  And every act of obedience is a seed that will produce a multiplied harvest of blessing in my life and in the lives of those I love.  The harvest is rarely immediate.  But it will come.” (Nancy Leigh DeMoss page 260)

This post today is really convicting me.  I don’t have much to say, except that I want to see a multiplied blessing in my life and in the lives of those I love.  Don’t we all?

  1. It is so easy to fall victim to our flesh... right down to even the littlest choices that seem harmless at the time! Great post Theresa... I too want to reap goodness... so I must always must choose to sow goodness!

  2. So true, obey and be blessed...words to live by!

  3. Sheesh, convicting indeed. This one reeeeally makes you think. I'm going to have to write out some thoughts to myself to work through this one.

  4. Yes I do! and that means I need to be sowing good things, not selfish things!! great reminder and something to chew on for sure.

  5. Yes ....very convicting to me also. I have heard it said to look at each situation..."Am I reaping what I have sown or are they reaping what they have sown"
Thanks...I needed this nudge this morning...been a long week and some of my seeds need to be pulled back up, by God's grace

  6. Definitely want this in my life as well! God sees my heart even when others don't, so my actions need to be pure. Thank you for sharing!

  7. Our oldest daughter and I were discussing this same subject earlier this week. Great reminder, Theresa. Blessings to you.

  8. Hi, I'm visiting from NFF. I truely believe that if you do good in life it comes back to you. Thanks for sharing.

  9. I'm going to have to get the book... great words and inspiring thoughts!

  10. Theresa, my sweet friend!!! Thanks for stopping by. I've been on a blog break and missed you. What a great post. As always, so encouraging and convicting. I must read this book. :)
