I am continuing “Truth for Thursday” here at Being Refined As Silver. We are on the last chapter of “Lies Women Believe”, chapter 11: “The Truth That Sets Us Free”. This will be the last review of this book, but I hope you will continue to come back each week. I am getting ready to start reviewing another book. Stay posted to find out what it will be :)
Nancy Leigh DeMoss encourages her readers to take time to savor these liberating, life-changing truths. She suggests saying each Truth aloud, again and again until your thinking becomes aligned with God’s way of thinking.
I am a bit sad to have reached the last truth from the book. Well, here it is, the twenty-second truth:
It is not about me; it’s all about Him.
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:16-18
“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11
Nancy Leigh DeMoss writes, “Before we can respond in a godly way to the circumstances of life, we must first settle this basic issue: What is my purpose in life? If our goal in life is to be happy or accepted or loved, then anything that threatens our well-being will be an enemy-an obstacle to fulfilling our objective. On the other hand, once we agree with God that we exist for His pleasure and His glory, we can accept whatever comes in to our lives as part of His sovereign will and purpose.” (page 265)
What a great truth to finish on. No matter what we do, we need to keep a biblical world view. It isn’t about us, it is about God. We were created by Him and for Him. We are to give Him glory in all things.
I am linking up today with The Chatty Mommy. Won’t you join me?
