1. What's one thing you learned in September?
That I am the one with an accent ;) We went on vacation after Labor Day and drove from NY to Florida. We stopped in just about every state between (I don't think we stopped in Delaware). I sure did get some funny looks when I spoke. I always look hearing other people's accents, I wonder if they like hearing mine- LOL!
2. Acorn squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, yellow squash, zucchini squash, or blech! hold the squash... what's your favorite squash? What's your favorite way to prepare your favorite squash?
I love squash! My favorite is spaghetti squash. I cut it open and scoop out the seeds then brush it with olive oil, salt and pepper and bake it. When it is tender I use a fork to scrape the squash out and serve it with my marinara sauce on top.
3. The older I get the_______________________________.
more I sound like my mother. Seriously, sometimes I say something and can't believe how much I sound like my mother. That isn't a bad thing, just funny.
4. What's your favorite television theme song ever?
The "Welcome Back Kotter" theme song.
I love that show and how Mr. Kotter returned to the high school he attended to teach. I student taught in my high school and it was a great experience.
In the beginning of each episode when the theme song would play they'd show a sign that said "Welcome to Brooklyn". I don't know if that sign is still up or where exactly it is but when we were getting onto the Verrazano Bridge this is the sign we saw:
In case anyone has trouble reading that it says "Forget About It" Brooklyn style ;) I think all New Yorkers have a little bit of Brooklyn in them ;)
5. What do you wish you'd spent more time doing five years ago?
Enjoying every moment and not worrying.
6. What item do you most need (or want) to add to your wardrobe this fall?
I need a dress badly. I have two weddings to attend this month and still no dress. I ordered two online but am not crazy about them on me. I am hoping I might change my mind by the end of the week or else I need to go shopping.
7. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts cartoon was introduced to the world. What was your favorite cartoon when you were a kid?
Garfield. It is so funny!
8. Insert your own random thought here.
It is fall, isn't it? The weather forecast today is for temperatures in the 80s! I am thinking of how to squeeze in one more beach day :)
Hi Theresa! Thanks for stopping by my Hodgepodge today! I enjoyed your answers and meeting you!
ReplyDeleteYea! I finally found someone else who did a newspaper cartoon! LOL
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers. Have a great week!
Had to smile. I do remember going to Florida, and people noticing right away that I had a New York accent.. And that struck me funny, as I'm further out west from the big city. Funny ALL the accents that are out there, including my own, I guess!... As for your answer to #7, you're right! Garfield is among the greats, both in comic and cartoon form!.. Have a great week! ~tina
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying the cooler temperatures here! I like fall! Garfield was another I used to read in the Sunday paper.
ReplyDeleteWe have a high today of 83 degrees expected...sure doesn't feel much like fall yet!
ReplyDeleteI know people can still pick up on my Chicago accent. I almost said Welcome Back Kotter, I loved that show and have always been in love with John Travolta ever since. I am loving spaghetti squash too. I haven't put olive oil on it so I will try that with the one that is on my counter. I'm going out today to find something for a wedding on the 12th. Good luck to you on finding a dress.
ReplyDeleteI always liked the "Welcome Back Kotter" theme song, too. Totally forgot about that one!
ReplyDeleteWith the warmer temps here, I, too, have been thinking about a beach trip...I wonder if there's any chance of making it?
I never put an accent with your posts before, but am going to from now on : ) Great day weather wise to be an East Coaster!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have such a Southern drawl and I get comments everywhere we go. One man told me one time that I needed to make a recording of my voice. Not sure if that was a compliment or not. :o)
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to find dresses today. Everything is separates and I love dresses.
Happy rest of the week!
Yes, it is fall and we may have some snow (1/2 an inch) this Friday!!! I hope you find just the right dress that makes you feel good!
ReplyDeleteSo, now I'm curious about where you live/what accent you have. Going up and down the East Coast you can run into a bunch of them... from Mainers (wicked!), to Boston (pauk the cau), to NY and "Jorsey"...to Maryland (zink), to the deep south (hey y'all). I prefer some to others. The way a person talks can definitely give away their home!
ReplyDeleteI haven't thought about Welcome Back Kotter in so long! That was a good theme song. I love that sign but I'm glad you translated it. Too funny. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI loved the sign with the New York Accent. I love New York and New York accents. There is nothing like New York.
ReplyDeleteAnd sounding like your mom - good thing.
Welcome back Kotter - I forgot about that one. I hope you have a good weekend.
I love the Welcome Back, Kotter song, too...and the show!
