Snowmen in May?
This morning as I was making pancakes my daughter asked "Mom, can you make men like Laura's mom did?" She has been reading "Little House in The Big Woods" and "Little House On The Prairie" for Language Arts. She read about how Ma made little men shapes out of batter. I said "I'll see". I thought how can I do that? I continued making the pancakes and when the griddle was really hot I gave it a shot. I connected a smaller circle to a larger circle. I didn't know if it would fall apart when I flipped it, but it didn't. I used chocolate chips for the eyes, raisins for the buttons, a craisin for the nose and a chewy fruit candy for the mouth. I called the kids for breakfast and they were so excited to see what was on their plates. They said they were delicious too!

I think it's wonderful that children can feel free enough to ask for snowmen pancakes in May and not feel silly about it!
ReplyDeleteOf course, it's just as wonderful that you were willing to make them in May!
That is so sweet of you to make them! I loved reading those books when I was little and excited when I read them to my own daughter. Now, one of my nieces is loving them!
ReplyDeleteMy girls would adore these!!!
ReplyDeleteThey also love the little hoouse series... and for a few months they called eachother Mary and Laura- and called us Charles and Caroline. Haha :) (love that!)
yum, that is making me hungry! The Little house books were filled with so much good food. I always wanted to try maple syrup candy on snow, but living in So. Ca never got the chance...
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I think I'll make them for my little girls tomorrow morning. Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! I grew up 25 miles from DeSmet, South Dakota, so the Laura Ingalls Wilder books were always very special to me. I read them to my children when they were little and often talked about the values in the books with my children. I'm looking forward to following your blog more through iFellowship!
ReplyDeleteThat is super cute! Found you from NFF! ;-)
