Truth for Thursday

I am continuing “Truth for Thursday” here at Being Refined As Silver.  We are on the last chapter of “Lies Women Believe”, chapter 11: “The Truth That Sets Us Free”.  It will take several weeks to review this chapter, so I hope you will continue to come back each week.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss encourages her readers to take time to savor these liberating, life-changing truths.  She suggests saying each Truth aloud, again and again until your thinking becomes aligned with God’s way of thinking.

Here is the eighth truth:

The blood of Christ is sufficient to cover all of my sin.

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”  1 John 1:7

Sometimes Christians think that they have done something that God can’t forgive them for.  There may be one sin that they hold onto, thinking there is no way God can forgive “that sin”.  Other times Christians say they accept God’s forgiveness but then they hold onto guilt about it.  They think that their sin is the worst and no one else’s sin is as bad as theirs is.  We need to remember that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).  God’s grace is all sufficient.  He died on the cross and paid for our sins.  Not the just the little ones; He paid for all of them.  Every single one of them.  If we confess our sins, Jesus is faithful to forgive them and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

If you have confessed and repented of your sin and asked Jesus to pay for them, you are forgiven.  There is nothing else for you to do. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow (Isaiah 1:18). Remember Jesus paid it all.  Trust God and His Word and walk in that forgiveness today!

  8. I have found over the years, as I mentor young women, that this is a crucial "basic" truth, that is very often hard to truly grasp and believe in. It makes all the difference once we do! Thank you for sharing it.
