Wednesday’s Words of Wisdom

As part of my quiet time each morning I have been reading and rereading Proverbs 31:

“Who can find a virtuous wife?  For her worth is far above rubies.  The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.”  (verses 10 & 11)

Are you striving to be a virtuous wife?  Does the heart of your husband trust safely in you?   As I was reading my study notes for verse 11 in my Geneva Study Bible it reads, “This state of affairs results from the wife’s astuteness in household affairs.”

Is there an area that you need to work on in managing your household?  There are so many resources available today for us women.  There are books, older wiser women, and let’s not forget the best resource…God’s Holy Word.    1776429~Theresa

  1. There are so many ways I could improve to become a better Proverbs 31 wife (and mom, and housekeeper, etc). Other than God's Word (which of course is #1), what is your favorite resource for these areas?

  2. A few of my favorites are "Small Changes for a Better Life" by Elizabeth George, "The Excellent Wife" by Martha Peace, "Managers of Their Homes" and "Managers of Their Chores" both by Steve and Terri Maxwell.
I am planning on making a few changes using the Maxwell's system this week. We officially start school Monday.
Thanks for the question Brandi. I am not used to getting questions in my comments, but it is nice :)

God has been teaching me very strongly this week how to be a better wife to my husband. It's a daily challenge, but one that is so worth it.

  7. I think this is an area I continue to work on even after 30 years of marriage. Like most things in scripture the Lord knew it wouldn't come easy so that is why we have to lean on Him to fulfill the word He put before us.
Thanks...always good!!! Hope your school is going well!

  9. Oh, I always have growing to do in the area of Proverbs 31. I am very inspired by other women who are striving to do the same. Thanks for the focus. Btw, my children are learning about the Geneva bible and King James today as part of our history lessons.
    Blessings,
    Toni
