Outside my window... it is dark out now. Today was brisk and gray.
I am thinking... I left the drapes out on the line and need to get those in. I don't think they are completely dry but maybe I can just iron them and put them up.
I am thankful... that we were safe throughout Hurricane Sandy. We were part of the 10% on Long Island that didn't lose power :) I kind of feel bad saying that knowing that so many lost so much.
In the kitchen... meatballs are simmering in a pot of sauce on the stove. I will boil up some spaghetti and add a veggie for dinner.
I am wearing... gray yoga pants and a teal v-neck. I dressed comfortably today as I was busy doing laundry, cleaning and organizing.
I am creating... why do I always feel so uncreative when I get to this question?!
I am going... to be busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. I made a turkey yesterday for our church Thanksgiving meal and will be making another on Thursday.
I am wondering... why people do the things they do ;)
I am reading... the bible, Lies Women Believe and Young Pilgrim's Progress with my children.
I am hoping... that my meatballs come out delicious without the egg.
I am looking forward to... celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday and then my 11th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
I am learning... that God's ways are the best ways.
Around the house... there is a pile of Thanksgving books on my kitchen table that need to be cleared so the table can be set for dinner. The blinds need to be closed and the drapes drawn for the night. I am enjoying all of the fall decorations.
I am pondering... when to speak up and when to keep quiet.
A favorite quote for today...
Do The Next Thing
(quoted by Elizabeth Elliot)
From an old English parsonage, down by the sea
There came in the twilight a message to me;
Its quaint Saxon legend, deeply engraven,
Hath, as it seems to me, teaching from Heaven.
And on through the hours the quiet words ring
Like a low inspiration--"DO THE NEXT THING."Many a question, many of fear,
Many a doubt, hath its quieting here.
Moment by moment, let down from Heaven,
Time, opportunity, guidance, are given.
Fear not tomorrows, Child of the King,
Trust them with Jesus, "DO THE NEXT THING."Do it immediately; do it with prayer;
Do it reliantly, casting all care;
Do it with reverence, tracing His Hand
Who placed it before thee with earnest command.
Stayed on Omnipotence, safe 'neath His wing,
Leave all resultings, "DO THE NEXT THING."Looking to Jesus, ever serener,
(Working or suffering) be thy demeanor,
In His dear presence, the rest of His calm,
The light of His countenance be thy psalm,
Strong in His faithfulness, praise and sing,
Then, as He beckons thee, "DO THE NEXT THING."
Isn't that a great encouragemant? I love that reminder.

SO glad to hear you were part of the 10% that did not lose power! What a blessing. I also did the Lies Women Believe book and Bible Study. What a good book!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHow are your in-laws?
Even though I only lost power for 5 days I still somehow feel "affected"- mainly for the others that have suffered so.
I am sure you have done your share.
Sad to see our island go through so much.
Been meaning to email you- thanks for all your sweet comments.
Seems the Lord is telling you and I both the same thing..do the next thing!! I am so glad you were safe. Our friend is on Staten Island at one of the few churches that wasn't hit. Glenn Beck's crew has been following him around.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is now working for FEMA, yeah a job and some income..and he is taking the calls from Sandy.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
