Wednesday's Number Hodgepodge

Visit Joyce and join the fun!

1. In a single sentence tell us something about your 40's. If you haven't reached that milestone yet tell us (in a single sentence) something about whatever decade you're in now.
In the midst of my 40's now!

2. Life begins at forty. Agree or disagree? Tell us why. And if not at forty, when?
I disagree.  Lots of good living happened before 40.  For me I would say at age 23.  My new life began then as that is when the Lord saved me.

3. Share a favorite book, song, or quote with a number featured in it somewhere.
10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman

4. A picture's worth a thousand words, a stitch in time saves nine, back to square one, catch-22, on cloud nine, my two cents...pick a number phrase and tell us how it applies to your life currently.
A picture is worth a thousand words.  My daughter is graduating our homeschool with Honors.  She is such a hard, determined worker.  She has also been working through this whole Covid19 crisis.  She didn't get to tour college campuses in person but was able to do a lot online and through Zoom.  She has made her decision and is registered for the Fall Semester.  She will be in the Honors Program as well as the Dean's Scholar's Program for Business.  I am so, so proud of her!

5. Last time you drove more than 40 miles from home? More than 400 miles from home? Where were you going? Was it before or after this current season of social distancing?
I don't often drive more than 30 miles from home.  The last time I drove (well I was a passenger) more than 40 miles from home would be in 2017.  We went on a last minute few day getaway to the East End of Long Island.  This was the beachfront.

More than 400 miles would be in 2017 also.  We drove to Florida for a family emergency.  It was before social distancing.  It took over 20 hours so I am thankful there were rest stops and restaurants available to us.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Week 9 of the stay home orders.  Some of our state has begun to open up but not our area.  We have only met 5 of the 7 criteria.  I am happy to see other states seem to be doing well with their reopening.  Hopefully it won't be too much longer here.

Wednesday's In the Garden Hodgepodge

Visit Joyce and join the fun!

1. Ever played the game Farkle? Are you a risk taker? In games only or also in life?
Yes, I have played Farkle.  It is fun but noisy when you roll the dice in the container.  I would not consider myself a risk taker in life.  In games, yes.  When I play 500 Rumy I rarely pass up on opportunity to pick up the stack of cards if I can get some points. Sometimes another player goes out and I am stuck with extra points against me in my hand.

2. What's your favorite thing about your yard or whatever outdoor space you may have?
The woods behind us that give us privacy. There are lots of different birds that come to visit our yard and I love listening to them and watching them.

3. Tell us about the most interesting building you've seen or been in.
I can't think of an interesting one so I'll go with a favorite because I think it is beautiful to look at.
The Chrysler Building, NYC.

4. In this current season of social distancing, what's something you've come to realize you take for granted in more ordinary times? Do you think you'll make a conscious effort to appreciate whatever that 'it' is once normal life resumes?
Meeting in person with my church family.  Yes, I think I will make an effort to appreciate it more if and when we can meet normally again.

5. Share a favorite song with a springtime flower in the lyrics somewhere.
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses

6. Insert your own random thought here.

"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution"
-Thomas Jefferson

I understand certain actions were taken to contain the spread of Covid-19.  It is concerning to me that most churches are still unable to meet, even with CDC guidelines being followed. Yes there are many online and live stream church services and that is great.  I just hope that doesn't become the new normal.  We are in week eight of stay home orders here and it feels really long.

Wednesday's Blooming May Hodgepodge

Visit Joyce and join the fun!

1.  Question day this week lands on Cinco de Mayo. Are/were tacos on your Tuesday night menu? Hard shell, soft shell or just gimme all the tacos? Are you even a fan of Mexican food? Do you like your salsa mild, spicy, or somewhere in between? Margaritas-Frozen, on the rocks, or no thank you? Have you ever been to Mexico?

No tacos this week, but we did have tacos recently.  We like both hard and soft shell although I mostly make crunchy tacos.  Yes, I like Mexican food.  I like my salsa medium.  No thank you to the Margaritas.  I have never been to Mexico.  The closest I've been is Texas.

2. What's something you may do this month?

I may have a BBQ.  I need to deep clean the grill after the winter and probably replace the grates.  Sounds more like a job for the hubby ;)

3. Tell us what's happening in your state or town as far as restaurants/salons/parks/beaches/businesses opening up. How do you feel about it? Are you out and about or hunkered down? Do you wear a mask?

Restaurants here are open for take out, delivery and curb-side pickup.  The salons and barber shops are still closed.  The town parks and beaches are closed but the state parks and beaches are open.  While I went to the post office to mail something yesterday I noticed the Chinese food restaurant and the bakery are opening back up.  I used the outdoor mailbox at the post office.  There was a line outside to get in.  Everyone was wearing masks and standing six feet apart from one another.  I did not wear a mask since I was outdoors and not near anyone and it was only for a few seconds.  I haven't worn a mask yet because I haven't really gone anywhere except outdoors.  My husband does the shopping for me and he wears a mask.

4. Mother nature, everybody and their mother, mom jeans, like mother like daughter, soccer mom, mother hen, mother lode, necessity is the mother of invention, stay-at-home mom...pick one and tell us how it applies to your life right now.

I think everyone and their mother has had enough of this lockdown!

5. April showers bring May flowers...what's blooming in your yard or garden today?

The trees are finally starting to bud.  The tulips and the ground covering flowers are up (I don't know what they are called).

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Have you seen this daddy and daughter duet of "The Prayer"?  It is beautiful!
