Truth for Thursday

05_08_5---Cross-on-a-Hill_web

I am continuing “Truth for Thursday” here at Being Refined As Silver.  We are on the last chapter of “Lies Women Believe”, chapter 11: “The Truth That Sets Us Free”.  It will take several weeks to review this chapter, so I hope you will continue to come back each week.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss encourages her readers to take time to savor these liberating, life-changing truths.  She suggests saying each Truth aloud, again and again until your thinking becomes aligned with God’s way of thinking.

Here is the ninth truth:

The Cross of Christ is sufficient to conquer my sinful flesh.

“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law but under grace.”        Romans 6:14

So many times as believers we excuse our sin so easily.  We say “I can’t help it that is just that way I am” or we blame the enemy for tempting us.

1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”  Are we looking for the way of escape or just caving in to the temptation to sin?

Being a victorious Christian is a battle.  Ephesians 6:11 tells us to “put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”  Are you equipping yourself daily for battle?

We can’t do it in our own strength.  We can find strength and encouragement in God’s Holy Word.  “…as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue”  2 Peter 1:3

Want to conquer your sinful flesh? You are no longer a slave to sin.  Walk in that truth today!
