Wednesday's Hodgepodge
I am linking up today for Wednesday Hodgepodge hosted by Joyce.
1. The Summer Olympics begin next week and London is playing host. If you had the chance to go in person which (non-Olympic) London site would you most like to visit?
I have been to London and once is enough for me. Tower Bridge is probably my favorite. A traditional pub for some fish and chips with malt vinegar would be in order too ;)
2. What is something in your life right now that feels like an Olympic event?
Organizing. It never seems to end and just when I think I am finished I start another project. I try to get rid of stuff but somehow it just makes more work for me.
3. What's your favorite supper to prepare and serve when it's too hot to cook?
Sausage and peppers. I have to use the stovetop but at least not the oven. I boil the sausage to get some of the fat out and then grill them the rest of the way. I sautee the peppers and onions in some olive oil on the stove. It is especially good on fresh Italian bread.
4. July 18th is National Get Out of the Doghouse Day...when was the last time you were 'in the doghouse'?
I can't think of a time ;) I am sure I do things to annoy people often but not bad enough to be in the doghouse. Although last Saturday was probably pretty close. I asked my husband to take me to pick up two desks that were for free off of Craig's List. It was a super hot day and he had other plans which didn't involve moving big, heavy desks ;) Thankfully he is not quick to anger and forgives easily :)
5. What television advertisement do you find particularly irritating or inappropriate? You may not answer with 'all of them'. I know some of you were thinking about it.
I think it is inappropriate for all of the presciption medicine commercials. I can't stand listening to them, especially when they start going through all of the side effects. I have to hit mute on the remote so I don't have to listen to it.
6. Share one piece of interesting news from the year you were born.
The last U.S. Ground Troops were withdrawn from Vietnam. I was obviously too young to remember but what a terrible time for our soldiers that was, no matter what your beliefs. I am thankful to all those who serve our country, no matter when or where.
7. What's the best part of your average day?
Dinner time. I love sitting together with my family and enjoying a meal together.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
It looks like a lot of my answers this week involve food. I guess I am hungry- LOL!

I am with you on the organizing. It's a never ending battle. Yes those prescription ads are annoying. Dinner time, that is a beautiful part of the day.
ReplyDeleteyou nd i like a lot of the same foods...would love to try your sausage and peppers...i love to grill them
ReplyDeleteOh, wish I could come and assist you with your organizing. I'm an organizing freak! My Mother use to say I came into the world organized. How funny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dear husband you must have. Mine, too, is slow to anger and just as steady as you go. Gotta love a man like that.
I am so with you on the commercials. I mean who would take anything they advertise once you hear the side effects. Goodness!
Happy Wednesday!
I can't believe those drug companies actually think that we're going to go demand their drugs from our doctor.
ReplyDeleteI see you homeschool. What a blessing that must be for you and your kiddos. I have the utmost respect for moms who homeschool. My daughter homeschools and loves it.
Moving furniture is definitely on hubs most hated chore list. With college kids he has done more than a little of that!!
ReplyDeleteI love sausage and peppers. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on the commercials. Hate those and most of the time the side effects are worse then what you're taking the meds. for. haha
I haven't had sausage and peppers in ages...don't know why, seems we get in ruts with our menus and forget about other dishes. It's a great idea for tonight!
ReplyDeleteHate those Rx commercials too.
Yum! The sausage and peppers sounds good!
ReplyDeleteThe TV ads seem to imply that your doctor doesn't talk to you about your ailment or how to treat it. When I had asked my doctor about a drug I saw on TV and why he didn't mention it, it was because of a side effect that was known to be related to something to which I'm allergic. He told me that and "It would be bad advertising for me if you died." (This was my old doctor who I'd seen since I was a preteen; he knew my sense of humor.) :)
Yes, sausage and peppers!!! With crusty bread, yum!
ReplyDeleteI especially hate those commercials during meal times. Have they no respect for our appetites?!
Great answers, loved stopping by. Have a blessed week.
I also love dinner time when we are finally all able to sit down, relax and chat :) Also love your answer about the military and appreciating them :) Love to get furniture off Craig's List, you are lucky to have a helpful hubby :)
ReplyDeleteI cant get over how pretty the background of your blog is. Also the font rocks! :) Y
ReplyDeleteMasterChef is a lot better than H.K. He's a lot nicer and doesn't swear nearly as much, in the auditions he sort of did. Hope you have a good week & thanks for stopping by :)
Don't you just love how they speed up talking when listing the side effects of prescription meds? It's crazy! If the meds don't cure us, they will kill us.
ReplyDeleteAhhh the organizing. Totally get where you're coming from there. With the kids moving on, I'm trying really hard to get 'their' rooms cleaned out. It would really help if closets didn't come with doors. Then I couldn't 'hide' things. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!
I should have put organizing for my #2 answer! Yes, it seems to never end. Does clutter breed while we're sleeping?
ReplyDeleteForgot about London yummy fish and chips...
ReplyDeletegreat answers! Have a wonderful day!
those prescription med commercials make me pray I never have to take them so I don't have to suffer all those potential side effects!!! :-O
ReplyDeleteBTW, You must have been born near my birth (I was born in 1970). Like I said on my hodgepodge, same year as Kelly Rippa.
...and thing is, regarding those Rx commercials, they have all the side effects that actually make your 'ailment' worse. Oh yes, I agree.
ReplyDeleteYour sausage and peppers sounds luscious. Mmmmm. "rubbing my tummy". And as for your random thought, I'm always hungry...what does that mean? LOL
