Wednesday's Hodgepodge

Visit Joyce and join the fun!

1. What's one simple small pleasure on your summer 'to-do' list?

Sitting at the beach with my toes in the sand, listening to the waves come in and the seagulls overhead.

2. Do you have strong feelings or opinions regarding the immigration debate in your home country? Feel free to share your thoughts, but please play nice.

Well, I think immigration is fine if it is done the way it used to be.  Many came through Ellis Island, learned the language, had a sponsor, worked hard and became part of our society.  I don't agree with those who want to come here and not become part of our society.

3.  What's something in your home or wardrobe that could be described as 'star spangled'?

We have a big, beautiful American flag flying on the front of our house.  I also put flags in my vase in the living room.  We all have Old Navy flag shirts too.

4.  Is your house set up for a party?

No.  I still have to do my weekly cleaning ;)

5. What one never-before-visited city in America, would you most like to see?

Newport, Rhode Island.  I'm an east coast girl and have been to many cities up and down the coast but have only drove through Rhode Island.  I prefer beach cities too :)

6. Your favorite red food? White food? Blue food?

I will have to choose healthy foods since my doctor put me on a Paleo diet in hopes of calming down my autoimmune thyroid condition.  Red- watermelon, white- grapes, blue- blueberries.  If I were to choose something I can't eat it would be a rainbow ice.

7. What freedom do you value the most, and why?

Freedom of religion.  I am thankful for a country where I am not thrown in jail for carrying a bible.
8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Happy 4th of July!

  1. Amen #2! My grandparents, dad uncle and aunt came through Ellis Island.

  2. My best friend was also just put on the Paleo diet for Hashimotos Auto is so so hard. I'll pray for you!! Happy Hodgepodge!!

  3. hey i'm wearing my old navy shirt too!! :) I like your #1 and 2! :) Actually we ALL were immigrants at some point before we were born. My grandmother on dads side was from canada, his dads ancestors were from either Canada or England. My moms family were all from England too. :) Have a great 4th!!

  4. My ancestors came through the "back door" (Corpus Christi & Galveston area!), but they were still legal and were expected to learn English. I 100% agree with you!

  5. I like your answers and agree with you especially on the second one. We visited Ellis Island and it was very moving to think of all the struggles many people went through just to come here and become citizens.
We visited Newport on a New England cruise. It was beautiful.

  6. Yes, the beach is the best simple pleasure. Great answer to #2 and I agree with you totally. My ancestors followed the rules. I would love to visit Rhode Island. Happy 4th of July!

  7. Well, bless your heart, didn't know about your auto immune condition.

My kids have every Old Navy patriotic shirt that has ever been I do believe. :o) Cute and inexpensive!

Wishing you a great day of celebration tomorrow!

  8. Theresa, is the Paleo helping? I love watermelon!!! I've never seen the ocean so enjoy it for me!

  9. It's been so long since I've been to the ocean! I'd love to go again sometime. There's something soothing about hearing the waves crash on the shore, especially at night.
Hope you and your family have a happy 4th, and I hope your new diet is working well for you.
    Take care! :-)

  10. I hope the special diet helps. Why no rainbow ice? Is it the sugar that's not good for your system or the dye? I love the ocean too, and need to see it often. Happy 4th!

  11. I would love to visit Rhode Island too! Believe it or not, I don't have an American Flag and we were just discussing that over breakfast the other morning. Praying for your condition.
And thank you for the reminder about being thankful to live in a country where we can carry bibles. So true!

  12. I love your new background! I too love being at the beach. That is how we spent Mother's Day, toes in the sand at Carolina Beach, NC. My new favorite place to visit! We went to VA Beach for the 4th, but I already shared how that went, lol...

Thank you for visiting. Please let me know you stopped by so I can be sure to come visit you. ~Theresa
