Truth for Thursday

I am continuing “Truth for Thursday” here at Being Refined As Silver.  We are on the last chapter of “Lies Women Believe”, chapter 11: “The Truth That Sets Us Free”.  It will take several weeks to review this chapter, so I hope you will continue to come back each week. 

Nancy Leigh DeMoss encourages her readers to take time to savor these liberating, life-changing truths.  She suggests saying each Truth aloud, again and again until your thinking becomes aligned with God’s way of thinking. 

Here is the third truth:

I am complete and accepted in Christ.

“…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”  Ephesians 1:4-6

REJECTION- we all have experienced it.  Some of us may still fear it.  We may have been rejected by a friend, family member, employer, or dare I say… a fellow blogger.  There is good news.  If you are in Christ, you are ACCEPTED in Him.  There is not one thing we can do to make ourselves acceptable to God.  We are accepted through the sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ.  Since He is acceptable to God and we stand in Him, God accepts us.  What an amazing truth!

Are you trying to make yourself acceptable to God?  Do  you feel like you are not good enough?  Are you waiting for everything to be perfect?  Well my friend, it will never happen in your own strength.  We will never be good enough on our own to earn God’s acceptance.  We are all sinners and even the smallest sin is a serious offense against a Holy God.                                                           

“For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.”  James 2:10

You can’t do it on your own.  But the good news is you don’t have to.  Jesus is the way to acceptance with God. 

Jesus said to them, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time…”               1 Timothy 2:5-6

“…Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, and then by the twelve.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-5
